SkillsUSA Pennsylvania District 6 Competitive Events

Congratulations to Garry, Riely, Blake, and Parker

The SkillsUSA Pennsylvania District 6 competitive events took place on Thursday, January 30 and on Friday, January 31, 2025. Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, events, and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.

Students throughout the central region of Pennsylvania traveled to the the Pennsylvania College of Technology to compete in a variety of competitions. The results are in and the following students placed in their competitions:

  • Garry Strait (Otto-Eldred): Information Technology Service (1st Place)
  • Parker Sherry (Coudersport): Automotive Maintenance and Repair (1st Place)
  • Riely Coopersmith (Port Allegany): Restaurant Service (1st Place)
  • Blake Lloyd (Port Allegany): Extemporaneous Speaking (1st Place)
  • Maddison Austin (Oswayo Valley): CTE Demonstration (2nd Place)
  • Alyssa Young (Smethport): Job Skill Demonstration Open (2nd Place)
  • Tayton Roys (Port Allegany): Carpentry (2nd Place)
  • Jacob Causer (Port Allegany):  Job Demonstration A (3rd Place)
  • Sage Caskey, Clara Jane Kusnierz, Richard Wojcik (Otto-Eldred), Cordell Baker (Smethport), and Nicole Hockey (Cameron County): Quiz Bowl Team (3rd Place)
  • Brayden Shuey (Otto-Eldred): Welding (3rd Place)

We are very proud of all our students who took extra time to prepare and compete! The state competition this year will be in Hershey, Pennsylvania on April 2–4, 2025. All first place winners will be invited to Hershey to compete.
